My work is based upon the Person-Centred Approach developed by Dr Carl Rogers. The principles of his approach have you, the client, as the central focus working in a therapeutic relationship with myself. Rogers said that people have within them the possibility of finding better strategies by which to live a more functional and fulfilling life, I follow that belief in my counselling practice.
Central to my work is building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, warmth, respect and acceptance whilst helping clients to locate and use their own resources, resolve problems and difficulties and to find better ways of managing their lives.
Our first appointment will be 30 minutes long. I feel this allows both of us time to discuss your needs and requirements which will enable you to decide whether you want to choose me as your counsellor. Counselling is usually weekly and our work together can be reviewed regularly and is based primarily upon your needs. We can be flexible. I like to offer my clients the option of short term or long term counselling.
